Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is raising money for victims of Australia’s floods by wearing “a shirt that hurts”.
On February 11, Perth’s biggest sport stars and supporters will put down their favourite team’s colours for the day and wear the official shirt of their bitter rival.
Some of Perth’s sporting teams have promoted the event by wearing their own ‘shirt that hurts’ with Robbie Fowler, who plays football for Perth Glory, surprisingly sporting the strip of his beloved Liverpool.
The 35-year-old told Perth Glory’s official website: “There is nothing wrong with the front of the shirt but it’s just the name on the back.
“With what’s happened this week it’s a shirt that not only myself but many Liverpool fans would rather not wear just yet.
“He (Torres) didn’t leave the club in great hands or great shape but thankfully they managed to go out and buy a couple of decent players.”
Fowler is an icon in Anfield, scoring a 183 goals in 369 matches for the Reds – including the Premier League’s fastest ever hat-trick when he netted three times in 4 minutes 33 seconds against Arsenal in 1994.
The Toxteth Terror, whose goalscoring exploits earned him the nickname ‘God’, enjoyed two spells with Liverpool before leaving the club in 2007.
Sunday’s clash between Chelsea and Liverpool is expected to reach fever pitch with fans of both teams exchanging insults on the internet.
Chelsea fans have already re-worked Liverpool’s famous Fernando Torres song while a pair of sports journalists supporting either team were involved in a war of words on social networking site Twitter.
Jamie Carragher is favourite to be the first person to foul Torres with the Spaniard admitting he hopes to score against his former club.
One man unlikely to feature against his former club is Liverpool man Joe Cole who tweaked his knee in training and is a doubt for the match.

wow that is so funny.
And Fowler has never moved for money reasons or to further, in the case of Torres, his career?!!!! Hypocritical scousers living in the past.
If you were a true football fan you would know that folwer did not leave for money and was forced out of liverpool by the manager gerard houlier after a prank involving phil thompson. He clearly loved the club and didnt care about money after returning in a few years back with a look of pure joy on his face.
What would you call moving to Aus? I doubt it’s because the standard of football is so high…
at least we have a past, unlike Chelski.
Fowler left LFC because Houllier moved him on
Your’e right he hasn’t
Know your facts before sound off and as for in the past we have one.
Note to writer: Toxteth TERROR, not Terrier.
