Top Gear host Richard Hammond granted a terminally-ill girl’s dying wish – by taking her for a spin in a 217mph bright PINK Lamborghini.
Emilia Palmer, eight, has a terminal lung condition and relies on an oxygen machine after suffering from pneumonia two years ago.
The brave youngster loves all things pink and fast and it was her dream to be taken for a drive in a brightly-coloured supercar.
So her mum contacted the Rays of Sunshine charity which then got in touch with luxury car dealer H.R Owen about arranging a special day for Emilia.
TV star Hammond flew his helicopter into the Shobdon Aerodrome in Herefordshire to pick up the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster.
The pint-sized presenter then surprised Emilia at her home in nearby Leominster before driving her to the airfield for a high speed drive down the runway in the £350,000 Lambo.
He said: “It was a real privilege to be asked to make a contribution to such an inspiring, positive, unique and uplifting occasion.
“Emilia was charming and wonderful. There was every chance she could have been shy, but she chatted non-stop. It is truly inspiring how brave people are.”
Footage of the day, which took place at the end of September, was uploaded to YouTube last week and has gone viral – with almost one million views in just five days.
The five minute clip shows a white Lamborghini being sprayed pink by car customisers Yiannimize before Richard Hammond knocks on Emilia’s door.
Emilia, dressed in a pink race suit and sat in her pink wheelchair, is then taken out to the car before Hammond drivers her through the Hertfordshire countryside to the airfield.
He then asks Emilia “request take-off” over a walkie talkie to the air traffic controller before he floors the Lamborghini down the runway, with the supercar capable of 0-62mph in just three seconds.
Delighted mum Rachel Palmer said: “Emilia had an incredible time. The fact that the wish was turned around so quickly, meant that she was still physically able to enjoy it.
“This was a fantastic day that we will all remember as a family. We are so grateful to Rays of Sunshine and everyone involved for making every aspect of Emilia’s wish happen.
“It’s not until something awful happens that you get to find out how kind people can be.”
Joe Doyle, boss of H.R. Owen added: “We’re delighted to be able to help Rays of Sunshine make Emilia’s dream come true with the pinkest Lamborghini I’ve ever seen.
“Rays of Sunshine is a fantastic cause and HR Owen are thrilled to be a part of such a special charity.”
