Detectives investigating the brutal murder of a grandmother who was battered to death in her own home a year ago have offered a £10,000 reward to catch her killers.
Mumtaz Member, 56, was found dead by police officers on December 12 last year.
A post-mortem examination revealed that she had died of “brutal” head injuries.
Her sons Mohammed and Shafiq and Shafiq’s girlfriend, Fatima Patel, were initially charged with murder but all charges were dropped.
A £10,000 reward has been issued by Crimestoppers and police on the anniversary of the murder.
Detectives have also released CCTV footage of four young men walking in the area at the time.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Graham, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s major crime team, said: “Mumtaz was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was taken away from those she loved in such tragic circumstances.
“The investigation into her death has been ongoing since December last year.
“Someone in the community knows who was responsible for Mumtaz’s murder and we need you to come forward, you could help us solve this crime.
“We are hoping the reward of up to £10,000 will generate further information and help us get justice for Mumtaz.
“She did not deserve to suffer like she did.”
Police released CCTV images of four young men walking near Mrs Member’s home in Holmfield Avenue in Leicester at the time of the murder.
Det Chief Insp Graham said: “We would like to speak to these people as they may be able to help with our investigation.
“I would like to stress that they are potential witnesses and they are not involved in the incident.
“We understand that it’s not always easy coming forward, especially if the information you may have is sensitive or you’re not sure if you have anything that may help.
“Please be assured that we have specialist officers who can assist.”
The Member family runs a bathroom and kitchenware business in Leicester and is well known in the city’s business community.
A family spokesperson said: “This is a well-known and respected family and Mrs Member’s death came as a great shock to the community.
“The person who committed this horrific crime is still walking the streets.”
“It was a horrific experience for the family.
“The fact these people will not be put on trial will have people wondering what is going on – and we have the person who committed this horrific crime still walking the streets.”
