Police launched an investigation today after a man’s body was found in the grounds of a posh private school.
The badly decomposed remains were found near a pond at Ellesmere College in Shropshire.
Police believe the victim could be 81-year-old Michael Ashton who was reported missing in July this year.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said: “It [the body] was found in a remote part of the grounds close to a pond and appears to have been there for a considerable time.
“We are in the process of establishing the identity and are treating it as an unexplained death.

“However, at this stage, we do not believe anyone else is involved.”
The spokesman said the body was not thought to be connected to the college.
He said: “We are investigating the possibility that it may be linked to a long-term missing person report.”
