Police have launched a festive advent calendar which features mug-shots of the most wanted CRIMINALS behind each door.
While traditional calendars include chocolates of pictures of Christmas scenes, Nottinghamshire Police have come with their own version – dubbed a ‘Badvent Calendar’.
So far the force has unveiled nine wanted suspects who range from escaped prisoners as well as crooks who have failed to turn up to court.
The calendar features a large picture of a snowman wearing a policeman’s helmet surrounded by snow-covered doors hiding the faces of wanted suspects.
It gives details of those who are suspects, have failed to appear in court or have been recalled to prison.
Behind the door of December 1 is Jamil
Shane Miah, 26, who is wanted in connection with a serious assault in Mansfield in September 2012.
He is also suspected of being involved in disorder in Derbyshire in the same month, during which a man was knifed in the neck.
On December 2, a mug of Terry Fletcher, 31, was revealed. Fletcher has been recalled to prison for offences committed
while out on parole.
Unveiling the calendar, Assistant
Chief Constable Simon Torr said: “We want to speak to all of the people whose images we show – and the message is clear: There is nowhere to hide.
“If you know the people pictured or if you see them, please get in touch with police or call Crimestoppers as soon as you can.”
A force spokeswoman said the idea came from similar seasonal appeals run by other forces.
She said: “People are thinking about advent calendars at this time of year – this is one way of getting wanted people into their memories.
“People will be able to see when suspects are caught, as their pictures will go from the calendar.
“It’s geared towards the internet and it’s about trying to get the message across in a creative way and making appeals like this more relevant to the time of year.”
Also wanted by police are Tekla Adofo, 24, and Petricia Matei, 26, both of Radford.
The pair are featured on December 4 and 5.
They are said to have breached the terms of their parole by allegedly committing a further offence and failing to attend an appointment with a supervising officer.
On December 6, the online calendar will reveal the face of Ian Green, 25, who failed to appear in court in connection with a charge of threatening behaviour.
Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of any of the wanted people is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
