Penny the pet pig is always hogging the telly – after getting hooked on shows such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
The ginger micro pig weighs a whopping 30kg but loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa every night with owners Hannah Kembrey and Mike Baxter.
She munches on cheddar cheese treats while watching her favourite TV shows – and then beds down for the night on the couch.
At just nine months old, Penny has already learned a few commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘wait’, but still causes trouble by munching her way through the kitchen cupboards.
Hannah, 22, and Mike, 21, have a special ‘pig licence’ to take her on walks around their home in Worle, Somerset, where Penny has become a local celebrity.
Penny also has her own Instagram account where she posts pictures of her exploits – including her down time on the sofa.
Hannah, a pet shop worker who bought Penny at just eight-weeks-old, said: “Penny is very much like a dog.
“She has a dog bed which she sleeps on and when we are home she cuddles up on the sofa and watches television with us and especially likes The Walking Dead.
“She’s so intelligent and all she wants to do is come up on the sofa and cuddle to be honest.
“She made herself at home where she wants to be, she’s so strong and I don’t think she’d let us put her outside.
“She’s on the sofa all night, from seven o’clock in the evening until the next morning.
“As soon as we sit down she comes in and hints that she wants to come up on the sofa and then that’s it, she’s there all night.
Penny shares her home with Keeli the African grey parrot, rabbits Barney and Honey, ferrets Dexter, Lara and Khaleesi, King Snake Legless, pastel python Hugo and Lady the dog.
Hannah said: “Generally she’s pretty well behaved.
“In the evening she gives us a little grunt and then hops on the sofa with me, Mike and Lady.
“She’ll sit there all night and snuggle up quite happily.
“People may think it’s a bit weird having a pig as a pet and for some people it may be.
“But I don’t regret getting her. We love her and she is part of our family.”
