An OAP kerb crawler demanded a ”change in the law” today after his bag was stolen – by a PROSTITUTE.
Divorcee Arthur Watson, 65, admits to picking up sex workers but is outraged after one nicked his bag from his car.
The pensioner says the crime happened after he picked up a prostitute last Wednesday in Plymouth, Devon.
He reported the theft to police but says he was unhappy how they handled his complaint – and is now calling for paying for sex to be decriminalised.
Mr Watson says the bag was nicked after he picked up a prostitute in his car – then dropped her off after changing his mind.
He said: “I thought there was only one possible way it could have disappeared while I was not looking.
“I went looking for her but she was nowhere in sight. I called the police and they asked me to help them look for this lady.
“We found her not long after that, she said various things that were not too pleasant. I agreed to take her in my vehicle as she said she knew where the bag was.”
Arthur, of Plymouth, added: “As a bloke who does from time-to-time look to avail himself of these things, I feel it creates a situation which is dangerous for people who are exposed as victims in these situations.
“It would be better to amend the law. I mean that both ways – the women are having to operate on the street rather than in protected premises because of the way the laws are written.
“The people seeking it are having to crawl all over the place looking for them. Everybody is exposed.”
Mr Watson’s appeal in his local newspaper the Plymouth Herald received a mixed response from readers who flooded on to the paper’s website to post comments.
One reader, Shelley89, wrote: “Why has he not been arrested in has basically admitted he was Kerb Crawling, he even states you have to crawl around for it?
“Why is he allowed to have an article of this nature posted and not be arrested?”
But others were mores supportive, with one saying: “Well done for reporting this, most would shy away from the publicity.”
