Millions of children faced misery this Christmas morning after the makers of a new games console admitted it needs THREE HOURS worth of updates before it can be used.
The Nintendo Wii U is the must-have new gaming system but a vital system update will take up to three hours to download and install.
Japanese company Nintendo has acknowledged the issue in a tweet from their official American wing – suggesting parents install the update BEFORE wrapping.
They wrote: “Giving #WiiU as a gift? Pro-tip: Perform system updates before wrapping so it’s good to go as soon as it’s opened!”

Boss of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aime said: “Nintendo developers want to make sure that the very best product is available to consumers.
“That creates a dynamic where our developers are working on elements until the very last point possible.
“That’s why the system update was required on Day One – and this is quite similar to what’s happened with other consumer electronic products.”
The £300 console was released on November 30 but required the hefty update as soon as it went on sale.
It is believed consoles going on sale from February 1 will already have the necessary updates already installed.
