A burglar bit off more than he could chew when he raided the home of nightclub bouncer – who sat on him until police arrived.
Amgad Ahmed overpowered raider Brian Wing and pinned him to the floor while his family slept upstairs.
He was praised by a judge and given a cash reward as Wing was given a 12 month suspended sentence at Gloucester Crown Court.

Amgad, who is 6ft tall and weighs 12 stone, was sleeping on the sofa at his home in Tredworth, Glos., when he was woken by torchlight in the early hours of March 9.
He leapt up and grappled with the intruder, grabbing his torch and then pinning him to the floor until police arrived.
Wing, also of Gloucester, needed 17 staples to cuts in his head following the struggle.
Amgad, who works as an aircraft engineer at Gloucestershire Airport during the day, said he had “no regrets” about injuring Wing.
The father-of-one was also left with injuries to his face and his partner was so badly shaken they have no moved into a new home with their three-year-old son.
He said: “I would never wish it on my worst enemy because it was really scary.”
Wing, who had admitted burglary, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, a 12 month supervision order and a six month alcohol treatment order.
Judge Hart commended Amgad for his bravery and rewarded him with £300 from the High Sheriff’s fund, and told Wing that he had “bitten off more than he could chew”.
