For health-conscious foodies, it can be hard to find the perfect snack to satisfy your sweet tooth, while keeping you under your sugar goal for the day.
The majority of the products which are marketed as ‘health snacks’ such as coconut protein balls, can contain up to 10g of sugar per 42g of product – as a ratio, that’s as much as a can of Tango!
This is where Dr Zak’s brand new high protein cookies come in. Boasting an incredible 15g of protein in every 60g cookie (that’s a huge 25%!), a very low sugar content, and even a cookie that’s sugar free, these sweet treats are becoming a staple of the fitness lovers snack box.
Ray Brilus, managing director at Dr Zak’s, commented: “After we perfected our staples recipes, such as our bread and pasta products, the “on the go” snack foods were a natural progression, and where better to start than with cookies!
“Other protein cookies on the market today market themselves as simply ‘high protein’, but consumers don’t realise how much sugar is included in the products. In some cases, you can get 16g of protein, with as much as 38g sugar!”
Dr Zak’s launched their protein cookies across the UK in gyms, health shops and sport supplement shops last month, offering customers three initial flavours; salted caramel, triple chocolate and a sugar free chocolate chip.
These new healthy snacks were created using Dr Zak’s ethos of turning ‘bad’ food into good fuel. The company began by creating a selection of staple foods – bread, pasta, and even bagels – that health-conscious people would tend to avoid, and putting them back on the menu by refining the amount of protein, carbohydrates and fat in each product.
As well as being vegetarian friendly and halal certified, these cookies contain only complete milk protein sources which means you are getting all 9 essential amino acids in every bite. As if this wasn’t enough, Dr Zak’s have created these cookies without the use of palm oil, truly making them a ‘guilt-free’ sweet snack.
Dr Zak’s cookies will be introduced to Tesco and Holland & Barratt stores across the UK in the autumn. In the meantime, there are plenty of online sellers to choose from!
