The wraps have been taken off the shock new Ferrari FF – the prestigious Italian car maker’s first ever four-wheel drive model.
According to the famous Italian marque, the Ferrari FF ushers in an entirely new GT sports car concept, representing “not so much an evolution as a true revolution.”
It is the first Ferrari to have power channelled to each wheel, which is acknowledged by the name FF – an acronym for four seats and four-wheel drive.
The unconventional design is known as a ‘shooting brake”, where the car looks like a fusion between a coupe and estate model.
But while the four-wheel drive feature may be new to Ferrari, the Maranello company has stuck to what it’s best known for – power and performance, with the car’s new 6.25-litre V12 engine boasting 650bhp.
This gives the four-seat grand tourer a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 208mph – 10mph more than its predecessor, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
It also benefits from a 450-litre boot – making it ideal for any of those Top Gear-style road trips to the Alps.
A spokesperson for Ferrari described the FF as having “incredible versatility, superb comfort and sophisticated elegance, guaranteeing both driver and passengers an absolutely unique driving experience.”
The new Ferrari FF will make its world debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show before going sale next year for a cool £250,000.
