Music producer Mark Ronson has admitted for the first time how he sufferers from “crippling anxiety” and is seeking a psychiatric help with his mental issues.
Talented Ronson made the revelation during a Prince’s Trust event alongside fellow ambassadors Alesha Dixon and Tinie Tempah.
The trio spoke openly and honestly to unemployed youngsters at the Prince’s Trust Youth Forum, held in Hackney, London, on Wednesday.
Ronson, 37, openly told how he has been plagued by anxiety daily but has now finally started seeing someone for help with the disorder.
He said: “You know, I wasn’t going to say it because I’ve never said this to anybody before but seeing as the point of us being here is to maybe help kids and say like I mean I go through crippling anxiety all the time especially if I might be going on stage or something.
“I literally have to be sit in a room in a corner by myself and no one can talk to me and I’m shaking and it’s just actually just something that I’ve just decided I don’t really want to deal with every day anymore.
“So it is something that I’m going and seeing somebody about.”
During the same event Alesha Dixon, 34, told the audience her father had tried to discourage her from going into the music industry – because he wanted her to become a stock broker.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge said: “My dad. He didn’t want me to get into the music industry.
“Not because he wasn’t supportive but as a parent naturally he was going to worry.
“He would have much preferred me to have been an accountant or a stockbroker.
“And being really honest, at the time, you know, being in a girl group, three black girls – he saw it as a massive, massive risk.
“He was looking around the industry at the time thinking well why are you going to be any different but actually he inspired me because I wanted to prove to my dad that I could do it.
“But I can’t make decisions in life based on other people’s successes or failures – I just have to do what’s right for me.”
Rapper Tine Tempah, 23, told the group that he felt he was a role model to youth across London and said the only way to know if something is possible is by doing it.
While actress Brook Kinsella, 29, also told how she suffers from severe depression following her brother’s death and even struggles to get out of bed.
She said: “For anybody who doesn’t know I lost my brother four years ago and there were days when I could honestly say I am depressed and I didn’t want to get out of bed.
“But it’s up to you and how you make that personal choice to do what you with your circumstances.
“You either let them get the better of you or you make the best of them.”
Singer Lemar and SBTV entrepreneur Jamal Edwards also attended the event, which was broadcast live on YouTube.
