A mum says severe mould has left her two-year-old son’s clothes smelling so foul his nursery complained in a letter.
Single mum-of-two Diane Straszewska, 26, is at her wits’ end and has described the mould in her one-bedroom flat as “unbearable”.
Diane hopes to move out of the council property – but claims she was told she must wait until rent arrears of £190 had cleared.
She said: “The damp and mould in the house is unbearable now. I would say that I have decorated about four times over the past 12 months.
“My son had a letter sent home from nursery l because they are concerned with how poorly he is and his clothes smell like mould.
“My youngest daughter has been diagnosed with asthma and my son constantly has coughs and colds.”
Diane lives with her son Karys, two, and daughter Amaya, one, in Stroud, Glos.
She added: “I just don’t know what to do. I have asked everyone I can think of for help.
“The fire service will be calling me back as I need the doors inspected as I feel they’re a hazard.
“The health visitor is writing a letter as she is concerned as well.”
Local MP David Drew, who is hoping to help Diane, said: “We are investigating the circumstances and are working with the district council to get this resolved.”
A spokesperson for Stroud District Council said: “Ms Straszewska’s ward councillor will be meeting with her on Monday to discuss her repairs issues and HomeseekerPlus application.”
