MP David Heathcoat-Amory has lost his seat in Wells after demanding a recount with Liberal Democrat Tessa Munt winning by 800 votes.
The long standing member of Parliament had paid back almost £30,000 following the House of Commons expenses audit.
Heathcoat-Amory said: ‘Expenses damaged all incumbants and perhaps me particularly. I faced a negative campaign, that’s the tough way politics is.’
