Detectives have released this shocking footage of a motorist being stabbed repeatedly in the leg – while he changed a tyre at the roadside.
The victim, 59, was attacked from behind after he pulled over in Luton, Beds., at around 3.20pm on Wednesday.
CCTV footage shows the victim putting the hood up on his grey Saab convertible to gain access to the boot space.
Shortly afterwards he was approached by two men who stabbed him several times in quick succession.
He managed to raise the alarm by hobbling into a nearby doctor’s surgery to ask for help.
The man was rushed to Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he underwent surgery. He is now recovering at home.
Bedfordshire Police said they believe a man with a dog was standing in the road at the time of the attack and spoke with the victim.
The witness has been described as a white man – possibly mixed race – with a small light coloured bull terrier type dog.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack and are currently being questioned.
Detective Sergeant Katie Dounias, from Bedfordshire Police, said: “Although we have arrested two men in connection with this incident I must stress that this inquiry is still in its very early stages and locating potential witnesses remains vital.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident including the dog walker to contact the police immediately.
“I would also ask that anyone who saw a black man with an athletic build and tight curly hair and a well built man with an Asian appearance in the area to also come forward.”
