The cost of running a home has fallen by nearly 14 per cent over the past two years and now stands at £8,059 per year.
This is down from £9,324 a year in 2008 with household paying an estimated £155 a week on their mortgage, repairs and utilities bills.
Despite an increase in council tax, water and sewage, the overall decreased has been attributed to lower gas and electric bills and a significant reduction in the cost of mortgage payments based on figures supplied by Halifax.
