There was bad news for Newcastle United fans this morning following the record-breaking £35 million sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool.
Not only had they lost their talisman and heir to Alan Shearer’s number 9 throne but it happened so late boss Alan Pardew didn’t have time to replace him.
A last-minute bid for former player Charles N’Zogbia was rejected by Wigan while Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wasn’t entertaining a loan offer for beanpole striker Peter Crouch.
And if things couldn’t get any worse, Newcastle United’s loyal but downbeat fans were opening up their calendars this morning to see the sight of the man who had just deserted them.
February is Andy Carroll month in the Newcastle United official calendar.
Liverpool fans, incidentally, will have to wait until April for their former hero Fernando Torres to appear in their club calendar.
i think Spurs fans did the same thing. Robbie Keane was their February mand and he’s at West Ham. ha, ha
