A council has apologised after installing a brand new road sign – welcoming traffic to an INUDSTRIAL Estate.
The official black and white sign was put up on a wall at the Crelake Industrial Estate in Tavistock, Devon.
But staff who work in the area were stunned to see a spelling mistake on the sign which read ‘Inudstrial Estate’.
Julie Worley, who works at nearby Jewson’s, said: ”We saw them fitting it but didn’t take any notice at first. It gave our staff quite a laugh.”
A spokesman for West Devon Borough Council apologised for the ”embarrassing” mistake.
He said: ”We thank everyone who pointed out this error. We obviously recognise this is slightly embarrassing.
”The mistake was made by the manufacturer of the sign who is now replacing it as a matter of urgency.”
The gaffe follows a similar blunder earlier this week where workman in Bristol painted the word ‘SHOOL’ on the road outside a primary school.
