A Millwall football fan has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an incident shortly after a game at Bristol City

A Great Western Ambulance Service spokesman has confirmed that paramedics treated three people at the scene one of whom was rushed to hospital.

The spokesman said:’ We attended an incident at 18.07pm tonight on Plimsoll Bridge, Bedminster, Bristol.

‘We treated two fans with minor injuries and one badly injured fan was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary.’

Avon and Somerset police spokesman Claire Stanley confirmed the incident but denied internet rumours that a Millwall fan had died.

She said:’Police were in attendance prior to, during and after the Bristol City v Millwall game at Aston gate.

Following the game a number of incidents of disorder were reported to the police and a coach carrying Millwall fans was attacked and had a window smashed.’

Six people were arrested over the course of the day but none in relation to the man who was taken to hospital.

My 8yr old daughter and I went to the game on Saturday too.

As if the 3-0 defeat wasn't bad enough…

I know a woman who lives at the end of the road where it all kicked off. She and her 5 kids witnessed a prolonged and horrific attack.

    Baseball bats, I ask you!

    Who are these "football supporters"?

I know this is merely the latest chapter in a longrunning feud between elements of both clubs.

But come on! There were kids on the Millwall bus that was attacked as well.

The first game of the season has left such a bitter taste in my mouth, Bah!

The news blackout was a disgrace. Protection of financial interests by city council and City club, I can only assume.

There is still no mention of it on BCFC site.

I am so disappointed. Shame on all involved and may you be banned from every ground FOREVER!

My sympathies to the families of the injured, red and blue.

football violence is sad and pathetic,

its ment to be a place for families,

its ashame that theres a small amount of people at every club which ruins it.

this is no joke, just seen it on bbc local news, and showed actual footage of bristol city fans attacking the coach with traffic cones and bricks, while young children on board, these bristol city fans are sick, and have really let down the real supporters of bristol city, hope these are caught as soon as…..

sorry but football grounds were NEVER meant to be a place for families. they never were until the late 90s and its a shame this changed. it used to be a ground for the mostly male working class members…
