GV of the bus Andrew and Lisa Jayne-Powis have transformed into a holiday home. A family sick of being rejected by cottages because of their big dogs, and too tall for caravans, bought a double-decker bus and turned it into a luxury holiday home. See NTI story NTIBUS. Andrew and Lisa Jane-Powis always struggled to find somewhere that would host them on their weekend adventures with their two Great Danes, Dean and Sauni. With three lively kids and Andrew standing at 6ft 5in (1.95m), caravans had never been an option either for the outdoors loving family. So four years ago they took the astonishing decision to buy a double-decker bus off Ebay, in the hope they could take it around Europe with their family. But the £2,500 Leyland Atlantean just sat in the shed for three years, so the intrepid couple decided to transform the double-decker into an extravagant country retreat instead. After six-weeks work and £15,000 later they began taking bookings for “Betsy Blue”. Betsy boasts three bedrooms on the top deck – one double, one bunk beds, and a single – and a fully equipped kitchen downstairs complete with a wood burner, as well as a hot tub outside.
