A man was fighting for his life today after he was stabbed in the throat in a quiet village.
The 27-year-old needed major surgery after a violent incident involving four other men.
Police say the suspects spoke with London accents and arrived at a house in a sky blue Ford Fiesta.
They then stabbed the man in the neck on a driveway in the village of Dobwalls, Cornwall, at 4pm on Friday.
A police spokesman said: ”Having approached the victim on the driveway of a house an altercation took place and the man received a stab wound.
”We are keeping an open mind as to the motive but would like to reassure the public that they live in a safe place. Police believe this was not a random attack.”
The spokesman said the victim, from Liskeard, Cornwall, managed to stumble a local shop and an ambulance was called.
He was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where he remains in a serious condition.
