Popular psychology claims that there is no such thing as luck and that our thoughts can shape our reality. Therefore, if you think you are lucky, you most certainly will be — and the other way round.
If you consider yourself lucky, there are plenty of ways to test that. One of the easiest ways is to check out casinofever.ca that offers you plenty of chances to use your luck.
There is, however, a man who didn’t have to visit a casino to put his luck to the test. Quite the opposite, life tested him more than once to prove that unimaginable things can happen to an ordinary man.
The story is about Frane Selak, a Croatian music teacher who has allegedly managed to survive accidents you have only seen in movies and probably laughed at their impossible outcomes.
(Un)Lucky?
The first accident that started the series of unfortunate events happened in 1957 when Frane travelled by bus. He claims the driver did everything in his power to keep the bus on the road, but something went wrong and they found themselves in a river. Luckily, the river wasn’t that deep and they managed to get out unharmed.
A few years later, in 1962, Selak travelled by train from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik. The train derailed and slid straight into a river. Some of the passengers drowned while others died due to deadly wounds they ended up with, but Selak managed to swim to the shore with a shoulder injury and survive.
Then, relying on the popular belief that aviation is the safest mode of transport, Frane decided to give it a try. However, both plane engines stopped working and the plane was bound to crash. Reportedly, one of the plane’s doors got sucked out together with Selak who somehow landed on a haystack and managed to survive.
If you think this is it, don’t be so sure just yet. After these accidents, Frane trusted no driver other than himself. Still, he couldn’t avoid bad luck that was following him. It is said that his car exploded two times in a few years.
When he finally thought he had survived everything, a truck hit him while he was in his car — of course, there were no deadly consequences.
True or False?
Although he gave so many interviews regarding his luck, many are still wondering if Selak added a little drama to the stories since some crucial information about the accidents is nowhere to be found.
Despite the doubts, Selak proved to be lucky indeed when he won the lottery, ending up with around $1 million. He later decided to spend the prize mainly on others.
He served as an inspiration for a short YouTube animated video in which all of his accidents were gathered and presented, one after another. Selak stated that he watched the video and didn’t like the way he was portrayed, as well as that the accidents were mixed up.
Be that as it may, the final say on whether Selak is extremely unlucky or unbelievably lucky probably depends on one’s point of view.
