A lorry driver accused of raping his estranged wife could not have done it – because he had not taken his viagra, a court heard.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of begging his wife of five years to have sex with him “one last time” after she dumped him.
She claims he grabbed her, pinned her down on her bed and raped her – while her children watched EastEnders downstairs, Cambridge Crown Court heard.

But Laban Leake, defending, said his client could not have committed the offence – because he hadn’t taken his performance enhancing pills.
Mr Leake said: “On this occasion he said that he wasn’t taking Viagra and could not have possibly had sexual intercourse.”
But the woman, who also gave evidence on Wednesday, told the court her husband raped her despite her slapping him “four or five times”.
She added: “I don’t know if he had taken Viagra on that day. All I know is what he did to me, and that was rape me.
“He pinned me down on the bed. I tried to push him away but he wouldn’t stop.”
The court heard the woman had dumped her husband in December 2011, but the pair had continued living together until the tenancy on their home expired.
He denies raping his wife at the family home in the south Cambridgeshire area on March 5 last year.
Mr Leake, prosecuting, told the court the woman had “fabricated the rape” to gain sympathy from her friends.
He told her during cross-examination: “You gave the impression of consensual love-making that was so common when you were together in a happy relationship.
“You were responding to his actions and gave every indication that you were consenting.”
Mr Leake told the court the woman had a “history of fabricating stories”
He said she had allegedly faked her handbag being stolen while she was on her way to pay in more than #1,000 in cheques and cash at a post office.
The prosecutor said she had been cautioned by police, but the jury was told the incident had never been proven.
He said: “You made up this rape just like you made up the robbery.”
But the woman replied: “I never made anything up – both of these awful things happened. I have been through hell and back these last few months.”
The trial continues.
