A long-running cream tea debate which has lasted nearly 1,000 years has apparently finally been settled – by the QUEEN.
Cream teas have been served in the UK since the 11th century and the dispute about whether cream or jam goes on the scone first has split the nation ever since.
The war-of-words has particularly divided people in Devon and Cornwall – with Devonians preferring cream first and Cornwall jam first.
But the debate may now officially be over after officials revealed the Queen’s apparent preference.

A former Royal Chef to Elizabeth II says at Buckingham Palace garden parties it is always JAM first – the Cornish method.
Darren McGrady, who cooked for the Queen and Princess Diana for over a decade, has taken to Twitter to reveal the protocol.
He said: “Jam first or clotted cream first? Jam first at Buckingham Palace garden parties!”
The row recently erupted again after a National Trust property in Cornwall published a poster advertising a cream tea event – with a picture of a scone with the cream on first.
The advert was branded “unacceptable”, “shocking” and “disgusting” by locals after it was posted on social media by Lanhydrock House and Garden.
Darren McGrady worked for the royal family from 1982 until 1993.
