Chelsea have had a bid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres accepted, according to reports.
The Mirror’s Darren Lewis tweeted: “It appears Liverpool have accepted a bid for Torres. Just trying to confirm it but our men say yes.”
Lewis also tweeted that Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge is having a medical at Bolton Wanderers, ruling out a move to Liverpool as part of the Torres deal.
Torres’ departure would leave Liverpool severely short on firepower with Dutchman Ryan Babel signing for Hoffenheim last week.
If the deal is confirmed and Torres passes a medical at Stamford Bridge, it will leave Kenny Dalglish 12 hours to find a replacement for the Spaniard.
Fans of the Kop club have tweeted their interest in Liverpool looking at Newcastle striker Andy Carroll with the bullish frontman in superb form for the Magpies this season.
Liverpool have confirmed new signing Luis Suarez has passed a medical and are waiting for the Uruguayan to receive a work permit. The Anfield club are also expected to make a fresh bid for Blackpool’s Charlie Adam, who has attracted interest from Liverpool’s bitter rivals Man United.
