Lindsay Lohan has been allowed out on day trips from rehab to meet up with her father, Michael Lohan.
The troubled former teen star, who is currently undergoing a court-ordered rehab programme at The Betty Ford Clinic, has famously had a strained relationship with her actor father.
She once called Michael a ‘pathological liar’ via her twitter account, and has also been quoted as saying: “I think my biggest focus for myself is learning how to continue to get through the trauma that my father has caused in my life.”
But now they appear to be building bridges after meeting up twice in one week.
“It was an emotional reunion… there were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other,’ a source told RadarOnline.com.
“Lindsay met Michael at Betty Ford and the pair spent hours together… it was not a fleeting encounter, this appeared well-planned in advance.
“They also went shopping at a local Palm Desert mall, where they were seen walking around together and at one point, were in a jewellery store.”
Lohan Sr has previously spent time in prison and rehab for drugs charges, and has had restraining orders placed on him by ex partners.
Lindsay has reportedly banned him from talking to the press about her, but he still managed to gush to OK! Magazine’s The R List how excited he was to see her again.
“I’m looking forward to seeing her,” he told reporter Jenn Hoffman. “The only problem is when you are in the public eye like we are the entire relationship is under scrutiny, so it’s hard.”
He also insisted she will get her acting career back on track.
“She’s gifted…[She just needs to stay] on the track she is now and focusing on being Lindsay. That’s it.”
