Lindsay Lohan pleaded not guilty when she appeared in a Los Angeles court yesterday charge with grand theft.
The troubled actress, 24, is accused of stealing a $2500 necklace from Los Angeles boutique Kamofie and Company.
She is also still on probation for a 2007 drink-driving conviction.
Speaking at Los Angeles Superior Courthouse, Judge Keith Schwartz said: “If you violate the law I will remand you and set no bail.
“Look around this room. Everyone else has to follow the law. You’re no different than anyone else. So please, don’t push your luck.”
Lindsay was allegedly seen wearing the necklace just after it went missing. A member of her entourage then returned it to the shop after it was reported stolen.
She is reported to have said that she believed the necklace was on loan.
It is not the first time Lindsay has been accused of theft. In 2008 she was suspected of taking a $40,000 necklace from an Elle magazine photoshoot in London.
Although it was investigated by the police, the magazine released a statement saying: “Elle has no reason to believe that Lindsay Lohan was in any way responsible.”
Treated just like everyone else? Do most thieves get fifteen second chances?
