The Liberal Democrats were the butt of political jokes today after publishing a Crime Reduction Action Plan – or C R A P for short.
The flagship policy – which vows to put thousands more police officers on the streets and cut red tape – is detailed over three pages of a party manifesto.
Party bosses were careful not to give the policy an abbreviation – but the title was ridiculed by the Tories.
A Conservative insider said: ”If ever an acronym summed up a party’s policies, it’s that.”
The Crime Reduction Action Plan promises to put 3,000 more police officers on the streets and improve technology to cut red tape.
It forms part of the the Scottish Liberal Democrats’ manifesto for the Scottish Parliament general election on May 5.
