A Lib Dem MP has become a laughing stock after misspelling the name – of his CONSTITUENCY.
Norman Baker, MP for Lewes, has come under fire for writing ‘Susex’ on a leaflet sent out to all residents in East Sussex.
Home Office minister Mr Baker has blamed a ‘typo’ for the misspelling, which was on the front page of his ‘Let’s Talk’ booklet to inform residents about the forthcoming elections.
Many residents of the south eastern constituency took to the internet to mock their MP.
One local said: “On the front cover of the Lib Dem’s ‘Let’s Talk’ booklet distributed to households last week it says that Norman Baker and Lib Dem MEP Catherine Bearder are – ‘Delivering for East Susex’.
“If they can’t spell their own county how on earth could they be anything but an embarrassment to us and to themselves?”
Another web user added: “They’re literal dumb-ocrats.”
Mr Baker confirmed Sussex had been spelt as Susex.
He said: “It was a typo. Rather than be un-environmental and pulp the copies, stickers were placed over the error.”
