Lady Gaga has shunned the usual celebrity product ranges, such as fashion or fragrances, in favour of teaming up with Polaroid to develop a line of gadgets.
The singer unveiled the ‘Grey Label by Haus of Gaga’ collaboration yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
A pair of sunglasses with embedded camera and display, a mobile phone printer and a new digital version of the polaroid camera make up the range.
Gaga, dressed in a gothic black bridal dress and veil, said of the sunglasses: “This is the first ever pair of sunglasses that can be worn out to protect your eyes from the sun and they can also take pictures.”
The glasses can shoot both photos and videos and also have screens in front of each eye that can play back recorded images. Data is stored in a detachable memory stick placed in the earpiece.
Gaga explained: “When I did the Fame Ball tour, I made these glass out of iPod screens that I strung together to create glasses that could play movies and I thought wouldn’t it be wonderful if these were functional.”
The portable printer will be available from May. There is no release date for the other products but they are expected to be on the market in time for Christmas 2011.
