A rapist who kidnapped a prostitute and tortured her in the back of his van which he had converted into a “mobile dungeon” has been jailed indefinitely.
Evil Kevin Hills, 40, gagged the 24-year-old woman and strung her up with homemade shackles in his van before brutally raping her for six hours.
At one stage the victim was so terrified she attempted to leap from Hill’s van as he drove her to a secluded area.
Leicester Crown Court heard Hills, a joiner, had converted his high-top Vauxhall van into a “mobile dungeon” in order to render his victim “helpless.”
He pleaded guilty to rape, kidnap and three charges of sexual assault and was caged indefinitely and ordered to serve a minimum of nine years in prison.
Sentencing him, Judge Sylvia De Bertodano said: “It is the stuff of people’s worst nightmares.”
Shockingly, Hills was on bail for downloading child pornography when he prowled the red-light district in Highfields, Leicester on January 20 this year.
After telling his partner he was going to the casino with friends he picked up his “slightly built” victim.
Hills, from Beaumont Leys, Leicester, bundled the woman into his van where he hit her, gagged her and shoved her into the footwell before driving to a beauty spot near Cropston reservoir, Leics.
The court heard the woman tried to leap from the moving vehicle but Hills chillingly told her: “Sit still. It makes no odds to me if you’re dead or alive.”
Andrew Easteal, prosecuting, said: “He had converted his high-top van into a mobile
dungeon, designed so the victim could be restrained and rendered helpless and abused in any way he saw fit.
“He’d carefully planned what he was going to do.
“When she tried to jump he grabbed her and told her to ‘Sit still. It makes no odds to me if you’re dead or alive.’
“Still with tape across her mouth, she was rendered completely helpless.
“He chose to tell her about himself in detail, which convinced her he was intending to kill her.”
After reaching a remote spot, Hills dragged the woman into the back and shackled her feet with ropes, before using two bungee chords to “string her up”.
He then proceeded to rape and beat her for six hours.
He eventually dumped her in a city centre car park at 2.30am. Following his arrest, he claimed she consented to sexual activity in the van.
He also admitted eight counts of downloading child pornography, of girls aged between six and 15.
The offences related to 143 images at level one – the least serious – eight at level two, 12 at level three and seven at level four, found on his computer, in February 2011.
Gary Short, defending, said: “The indecent images show the level of his preoccupation with sex.
“What happened to the victim was the escalation of seeking personal sexual gratification.”
After the hearing, the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said her terrifying ordeal had “ruined her life”.
She said: “It has ruined my life. I can’t be on my own, I feel vulnerable and scared all the time, but I am determined to try to beat the horrible shadow this man has cast over my life.
“The sentence is sufficient but I wish he could stay in jail forever. I hate him. I really thought I was going to die.
“It has now been eight months since the attack and I still think about it every day.”
