Brit beauty Keira Knightley has split up with her boyfriend of five years, Rupert Friend.
The actress, 25, met 29-year-old Rupert when they starred in Pride & Prejudice together. But her father, Will Knightley, confirmed they have now decided to go their separate ways.
He told The Sun: “Yes, they have broken up. But that’s the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things.
“They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. She’s focused on her work.”
Rumours surfaced in December that there was trouble in paradise when Rupert took his mum rather than Keira to the London Coliseum gala production of The Nutcracker.
A close friend of the couple revealed to the paper that the pressures of fame were to blame for the split.
They said: “Rupert hates the idea of being followed and photographed. Keira partially had to accept it because of her rising profile.
“It affected the harmony in the relationship. The pressure took its toll and both decided they should go their separate ways. They will remain life-long friends.”
Keira is one of the UK’s highest-earning actresses, with a reported £30 million fortune gained from her role in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and a Chanel modelling contract.
