Katy Perry has possibly the most embarrassing mum in the world – her mother Mary Perry Hudson is planning a tell-all book criticising her daughter’s ‘choices’.
US newspaper The New York Post has seen a proposal for the book, which will detail how Katy has ‘impacted’ on her preacher mother’s California-based Christian ministry.
Mary and husband Keith’s devout evangelism is definitely at odds with Katy’s sexy image – the singer found fame through her revealing outfits and cheeky songs such as I Kissed A Girl.
The pop star then married self-confessed former drug and sex addict Russell Brand.
Her mother’s book proposal reads: “Mary and Keith Hudson have been Christian Evangelists long before the world ever heard of Katy Perry.
“Mary wants to tell her story and dispel a lot of rumours. Katy’s success has impacted on her ministry in both negative and positive ways.
“She loves her daughter very much and is very proud of her accomplishments, but disagrees with a lot of choices she makes in her career.”
Mary has expressed her anger at Katy’s antics before, describing I Kissed a Girl as ‘disgusting.’
She said: “I hate the song. It clearly promotes homosexuality and its message is shameful and disgusting.
“The first time I heard it I was in total shock. When it comes on the radio I bow my head and pray.”
Katy has made no secret of her Christian background. She has a ‘Jesus’ tattoo inscribed on her wrist and even asked her hubby to tone down his ‘blasphemous’ stand-up jokes.
The book proposal has been submitted to literary agents but no publishing deal has yet been signed.
Katy has refused to comment on the matter.
