According to the Sunday Mirror, Peter was upset to discover a burn mark underneath Princess’s armpit and contacted his lawyers when he could not get hold of Katie for an explanation.
Katie, also known as Jordan, reacted furiously to the story and took to Twitter to point out that her eldest son Harvey had been scalded in the bath while in Pete’s care.
She wrote: “Again lies being reported! As for peter he should know what a real BURN is like look at HARVEYS leg that he burnt while in PETES CARE!! (sic)”
Later on she posted a statement on her website accusing the pop singer of using their children to gain publicity.
She says: “Princess has in fact got a minor burn under her armpit that she received in a fluke accident when she was in Klosters.
“At that time she was with my mother and sister and had (unbeknown to my sister) followed my sister to retrieve pyjamas left to warm.
“That injury was seen to immediately and while it is of course upsetting that it happened at all, it was an accident of the type that happen to children all the time.
“Princess is fine, there will be no lasting damage and she was and is in no discomfort.”
The statement continues: “At a time when I am trying to persuade my ex-husband to remove the children from the public eye to have this incident appear in the press and garner a little publicity is quite shameful.”
She then requested that “every scraped knee, bruised elbow and tear of childhood is not used to score points.”
The model also stated that Peter was made aware of the incident when they returned home.
Her ex-husband later released a statement insisting he had not been told about the burn and was not responsible for the story appearing in the press.
He added: “I will not be accused of using an accident to gain publicity by Kate. That is completely untrue.”
The couple were married from 2005 to 2009 after meeting on TV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
Katie recently announced her separation from second husband Alex Reid.
