A classic Ferrari once owned by The Beatles legend John Lennon is expected to fetch £140,000 when it goes up at auction.
The 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe was the musical icon’s first ever car – which he spent £2,000 on as a 24-year-old.
Philip Norman, who wrote John Lennon – A Life, said: “In February 1965, John passed his driving test, an event that made headline news across the nation.
“Within hours, every luxury car dealership in the Weybridge area, hoping for business, jammed the road outside Kenwood’s security gates with Maseratis, Aston Martins, and Jaguar XK-E.

“John strolled out to inspect this gleaming smorgasbord, eventually selecting a £2,000 light blue Ferrari.”
The iconic musician, murdered in 1980, used the Ferrari as part of his three-car stable which included a Mini for “pottering around in” and a psychedelic-painted Rolls-Royce for “relaxing in”.
Lennon kept the Ferrari for ten months, covering just 3,000 miles in the 150mph Italian car.
It underwent a full restoration in the 1990s and is being sold at the Bonhams’ Paris sale of Motor Cars at the Grand Palais on 5 February. Bonhams estimate the Ferrari will fetch between £100,000 and £140,000.
The Ferrari sale coincides with the auction of another British icon’s car – David Beckham’s customised Porsche 911 is currently for sale on eBay.

Well, it being a classic Ferrari warrants enough right for it to fetch a high price. Add to that the fact that this used to be legendary music icon John Lennon’s car makes it exponentially more valuable. He will forever be a legend in the music industry. I still listen to his songs until now. I always play his song Jealous Guy. It’s one among my favorites.
