A JCB driver and his new bride stunned guests when they turned up to their wedding reception – in the bucket of a giant DIGGER.
Jason Smith, 29, and his bride Iona, 28, ditched the traditional horse-drawn carriage and opted instead for an 18 ton earth mover.
They arrived at their wedding at Bretforton Church, Evesham, Worcs., on Saturday (5/4) in the digger in front of friends and family.
Jason’s colleagues at local firm Budget Skips organised the transport as a surprise for him and new wife Iona.
Bethany Holloway, who helped arrange the digger, said: “Jason is a driver and we knew he’d appreciate the mode of transport.
“We surprised them with the digger outside the church.
“The reception venue was within walking distance, they had planned on just walking! But we took them in style.
“He had no idea what we were doing and it was a real effort keeping the digger hidden. It weighs 18 tons so it’s not exactly easy to hide.
“They had absolutely no idea that it was planned. We had to prepare all morning to safely get the vehicle to the church.”
As the couple said their vows in the church, the digger was driven into position outside the church and was there to greet them as they posed for photographs.
