It seems impossible that the summer is passing so quickly – but nevertheless, its Premier League countdown time again. And let’s face it; last year’s English Premier League campaign wasn’t as breathlessly exciting as the couple of seasons that preceded it.
Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea had things sewn up fairly early, Man United were in (another…) period of transition, Arsenal looked unstoppable at times, but not so at other times – whilst pre-season favourites Manchester City disappointed overall and eventually finished eight points adrift of the champions.
Things were far more lively at the foot of the table, of course, with Hull City, QPR and Burnley eventually falling through the trapdoor after a real dog-fight that saw a heroic late season escape by Leicester City.
But all that is history and all the fans of the Premier League all around the world now care about is who’ll win this year’s; title race which is due to get underway on Saturday August 8th.
Currently, Chelsea are warm favourites to retain their title at 6/4 with http://www.bet365.com/news/en/betting, followed by Man City at 11/4, Arsenal at 5/2 and Man United at 5/1. No other team is given a realistic chance and the title race will surely be fought out between the four.
As things stand, it’s difficult to see any of the other three team bosses outsmarting Mourinho. The real value probably lies with Louis van Gaal’s Man United. The Dutchman has enjoyed great success with every club he’s managed and the signing of German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich for a three-year deal for a reported £15 million may be key to the crafty Dutchman’s plans.

Man City’s signing of wonderkind Raheem Sterling for a record-breaking £49 million perhaps looks a little less considered a move, though City weren’t all that far away last season and any improvement could see them mounting a more sustained challenge.
Then, of course, there’s the ever enigmatic Arsenal under the mercurial and evergreen figure of Arsene Wenger. We never know quite what we’re going to get from the Gunners but the fans have grown impatient with the club’s lack of backbone and consistency. On the other hand, the team is maturing and often gives fans the world over some of the most sublime moments we see in the beautiful game. If Arsenal can mount a more sustained challenge, then they’re capable of winning the title that has eluded them now for 11 years.
All in all, it promises to be another fantastic season in prospect in what has to be the most exciting football league in the world. But if you’re a person who enjoys putting their money where their mouth is, then don’t bet against Mourinho’s methods working their magic yet again. Instead, look for an interesting value candidate not currently considered for the drop perhaps – or a dark horse to get into the top five as Southampton came so close to achieving last season.
With the Premier League anything can happen and it probably will!
