A paedophile given shelter by unsuspecting friends repaid their kindness by taking their young daughter’s virginity – then telling them: “There’s nothing you can do about it.”
Tobias Auffret was shown pity by the Good Samaritans when he lost his home and found himself on the streets.
He was given a temporary room at the family’s home in Folkestone, Kent – but started grooming the couple’s teenage daughter.
The abuse came to light last June when the girl’s father caught 31 year-old Auffret naked in bed with the youngster.
He immediately threw the garden centre worker out of his home before discovering the pervert had been secretly grooming the under-age girl for weeks.
When the victim’s mother confronted Auffret in a phone call he laughed and said: “I have been doing it for weeks while you lot have been in bed asleep.
“There is nothing you can do about it.”
But the couple called in police and Auffret was charged with two counts of having sexual activity with a child.
He is now starting a three-year jail sentence after admitting the offences at Canterbury Crown Court.
Judge James O’Mahony told him his actions were “an extraordinary breach of trust”.
He added: “What a dreadful shock it must have been when the father discovered you in his daughter’s bedroom.”
Dominic Connelly, prosecuting, said Auffret could not remember how many times he had sex with the child.
Paul Hogben, defending, said as a result of the offences Auffrey, a father-of-three, has lost his job, his wife of eight years and his family.
He said: “His family now want nothing to do with him, but he did not target the child.
“He is not a sexual predator who targets young children. This came about because of human weakness.”
Auffret was also given an eight-year sex offences prevention order to keep away from children.
