Large swathes of one of Britain’s largest estates is to be sold – six years after its party-loving aristocratic heir died in the bath.
The historic Port Eliot estate covers 6,000 acres of land south of the village of Polbathic in Cornwall.
It is believed much of southern part of the estate, covering hundreds of acres and more than a dozen properties, is going on the market.

The estates’ natural heir Lord Jago Eliot, 40, was found dead in the bath by his ex-model wife Bianca Ciambriello at the country estate in April 2006.
He had been epileptic for two years but toxicology reports also revealed a cocktail of drugs in his blood including cannabis, cocaine, paracetomol, and sleeping tablets.
Jago’s father, the Earl of St German’s, 71, and third wife, Catherine, 42, still live on the Port Eliot estate in a 100-room Gothic Castle.
The building dates back to the 9th century and features an envied art collection including works by Romney, Ramsey, Van Dyck and many of the Dutch Old Masters.
They say they have no plans to part with the house but large areas of land and dozens of tenant farms could be sold.
Justin Lascelles, associate director at property agents Savills, said: ”We have been instructed to review the estate.
“We have obviously told tenants, been to see them, and looked at all the property.
”There may be a sale of certain parts of southern estate assets but there are no instructions for sale so far.

”Should any decision be made to sell part of the estate then any tenants affected will be notified.”
Jago lived and died in a farmhouse on the family estate where he lived with Bianca, their son, eight-year-old Albert, now heir to the estate, and twin daughters, Ruby and Violet.
The Earl, Peregrine Eliot, was a well-known hippie in his youth and Jago took up magic and inventing sex toys.
He raised funds for his many exotic round-the-world trips by busking in Covent Garden while living at a bijou house next to Chelsea Football Club.
He also won first place in the Spanish national surfing championships and a ticket to the world championships in Hawaii, where he represented the UK and came 17th out of 96 entrants – the highest-placed European.
The last spectacular party he held at the estate was on Millenium Eve and was attended by pal Kate Moss.
Jago, whose wife was a glamorous model and step-daughter of the late painter Robert Lenkiewicz, was due to inherit a £25 million family fortune.
