Plastering supplies firm Gypsumtools is now the sole stockist of an innovative new product which promises to transform tradesmen’s workloads.
Traditionally, when installing down lighting, sockets and switches on a freshly plastered wall, the job of ensuring that dangerous pipes and cables were missed was a tricky one.
But Plasterspot is the latest device to hit the home improvements market with the aim of solving the problem of drilling errors which can occur once a wall has been plastered.
To avoid burst pipes and electric shocks, tradesmen had to create complex and time consuming drawings that would show where the danger spots were to ensure that these sort of costly and frustrating errors didn’t occur.
Plasterspot makes such laborious activities unnecessary; because it can be applied before the wall is plastered. All the plasterer needs to do is peel the back off the spot and stick it to a marked surface in the area where it is safe to drill.
Then, once the wall has been plastered, the outline of the spot will bleed through the plaster as it dries, leaving a well-defined red spot that shows where it is safe to install the downlight or socket.
Plasterspot has many uses in both the electrical and plumbing trades from installing ceiling spotlights , wall sockets, switches and smoke detectors, to positioning radiators and locating pipework.
It comes in a series of multipurpose trade and project packs, which contain 25 self-adhesive indicators.
Over time, the positioning of downlights has become increasingly complex, with newer developments in the field as the popularity of this energy saving form of lighting grows.
While circular, diagonal, curved and sloping areas are not unusual for the positioning of the downlights, having up to 60 in a home these days is quite common. In places of work, the number is far greater.
Because installing this number of downlights can in itself be a timely job, Plasterspot aims to lighten the load by giving confidence that the drilling which needs to be done is going to be safe, effective and right first time.
As the only suppliers in the UK, Gypsumtools has added Plasterspot to its wide range of plastering tools and supplies in its effort to lighten the load for its customers.
