A bodybuilder has set a new record for the UK’s biggest biceps for his whopping 25 inch arms – thanks to his 10,000 calorie a DAY diet.
Beefy Dave Crosland, 44, trains six days a week, pushing weights of up to 280lbs to build up his enormous muscles.
The 25-stone father-of-three has to eat every 90 minutes when he is bulking-up, and his arms are so big he has to have all his clothes handmade.
Determined Dave was attending a bodybuilding conference last week when he ran into the previous record holder Tiny Iron, who has a 24 inch circumference on his upper arms.
The filmmaker – who never intended to beat the record – was astonished when he measured his bulging arms, and discovered his biceps were a whole inch larger.
Married Dave, from Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, said: “I’m not even massively strong on my biceps.
“It is more about the way I train – it is very intense.
“I wasn’t trying to get the biggest. It is just one of those things.
“I saw Tiny Irons at the Body Power expo and I had a photo and I saw that his arms weren’t anywhere near the size of mine.
“I used to be about getting bigger – and I think my arms probably used to be bigger – but now I’m just about being healthy.
“It’s a bugger trying to get shirts. I have to get them made by a tailor.”
Dave started seriously weight training when he was aged just 15, and kept it up until he tore a muscle in his left arm in his early 20s.
He gave up the sport but started again around seven years ago, and now trains at the gym for up to two hours a day.
Super-strong Dave typically dines on a breakfast of oats mixed with whey protein for breakfast, followed by six meals of chicken or beef, with rice and green vegetables.
He treats himself to normal meals on the weekends, unless he is trying to bulk up, when he cuts out “junk food” completely, and eats high-protein meals or drinks every 90 minutes.
Dave trains four days on, one day off, concentrating on chests and triceps on day one, followed by back and hamstrings, shoulders and calfs, and finally biceps and quads.
He admits talking steroids in the past and recently released a documentary about the dark side of body building called Under Construction 2.
Dave lectures in prisons, to the police and army on the use of performance-enhancing drugs and appears in court cases as an expert witness on the subject.
Whenever he goes out with wife Shashana, 42, he turns heads, but insists he isn’t obsessed with being big.
“I wouldn’t say I have ever been obsessed with being big, but I was achieving a goal,” said Dave, who is has two daughters, aged 11 and 17, and a 15-year-old son.
“Now I’m comfortable just ticking away and being healthy.”
Egyptian Mustafa Ismail held the Guinness World Record for the biggest arms – a staggering 31 inches – in 2012.
But the body decided to no longer accept any claims for largest upper arm circumference after concerns about body-enhancing substances.
