See SWNS story SWDEAD: A grieving woman who entered a holiday competition for ugly partners has been disqualified — because her husband is dead. Andrea Bedlington, of South Shields, made it to the final of Metro Radio’s Punching Above Your Weight contest alongside her late husband, Andrew. But after details emerged that Andrew passed away in 2013, Andrea was told she was no longer eligible for the prize of a romantic holiday. But as a consolation prize, bosses at the Newcastle-based radio station have promised to send Andrea and the pairs daughters, Shannon, 18, and Chloe, 11, on holiday instead. Andrea, 36, said she had entered the contest as a tribute to her late husband, who she feels was much better looking than her, but didn’t expect to get very far in it. However, after being asked to appear on the breakfast show, with presenters Steve and Karen, she was surprised with the family trip.
