A great-grandfather is celebrating his 104th birthday today (wed) by setting a world record – as the oldest person to get a TATTOO.
Spirited Jack Reynolds has always been adventurous and was the oldest person to do an ice bucket challenge when he was 102 – wearing just his Union Jack boxers.
He wanted to go one step further and had his nickname ‘Jacko’ and his date of birth ’06/04/1912′ tattooed on his upper right arm today (Weds).
Widower Jack went under the needle alongside daughter Jayne Goodwin, 55, and grandson Shane Spencer, 35, who got the same tattoo.
The former railway line foreman has now been awarded the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to get a tattoo – breaking the previous best by TEN YEARS.
Jack said: “My grandchildren think I’m bonkers. I’ve been bonkers for years.
“I’m a big strong lad and I’ve have plenty of needles in me in my time, in various places.”
LKJack, who has eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, already held the record for the oldest ice ‘bucketeer’ from 2014.
He raised money for ASL – also known as the Motor Neurone Disease Association – and told his family he wanted to do another fundraiser for his birthday yesterday (Weds).
Daughter Jayne, a learning support assistant, suggested a tattoo about six weeks ago, and within a few days he accepted the challenge, his first-ever inking.
After consulting with tattooist from Pete Who’s Tattoos in Chesterfield, Derbys., he set on his own name and date of birth in his own cursive handwriting on his upper arm.
He has already raised £2,146 for Ashgate Hospice which cares for terminally ill adults.

Proud Jayne said: “I’m really proud of him. He’s my superhero.
“I’ve been proud of him since the day I was born.
“He doesn’t even like tattoos but he wanted to do something special that would raise a lot of money.
“He initially joked about getting it on his bum, but then wasn’t too keen on having to get out his bum to show people.”
Jack, from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, who was a plate layer on the railways, had four children with his wife Cathleen who passed away in 1984.
He became an avid traveller and holidayed all over the world on his own after she passed away until he was well into his 80s.
Jack puts his longevity down to lots of fresh air and hard work during his career – plus a nip of whisky each morning and evening.
He had his 3in x 2in tattoo done in the shop, alongside Jayne who got the same design on her hip, while son Shane got the inking on his upper left arm.
