A daredevil literally plunged into the record books after he bungee jumped from an incredible 400ft – at the grand old age of 72.
Great-grandfather Raymond Woodcock now holds the world record for the highest ever bungee into water after plummeting from a crane into a flooded quarry.
His amazing feat smashed the previous world record of a man from China who jumped 164ft from a helicopter in November 2006.
Fearless Ray, of Essex, said: “They got the weights a bit wrong and the second time I missed [the water] by less than an inch. Then they stuck me right into the water and, boy, my head took a real crack.
“It was scary stuff.”
Taxi driver Ray is no stranger to adventure. In the last nine years he has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, driven a team of huskies 250km across the Arctic and completed the world’s highest civilian tandem sky dive at 30,000ft.
He has trekked across the scorching Death Valley and into three erupting volcanos in Sicily.
But he had never attempted a bungee jump before he plunged from a crane at the National Diving and Activity Centre in Chepstow, Glos.
He raised cash for the Taxi Drivers’ Charity Fund for Children, which hold events for sick and disabled youngsters.
President Brian Houssart said: “Ray is phenomenal for what he’s done over the years.
He’s a great guy and he’s done some wonderful things.”
