A company backed by a Dragons’ Den millionaire has released a luxury gold-plating new iPhone – crafted from solid gold and encrusted with more than 300 sparkling diamonds.
Goldgenie, founded by entrepreneur Laban Roomes after he won investment from multi-millionaire James Caan on Dragons Den, is selling the gadget for #64,000.
The lavish ‘Superstar’ is made from 200g of 18ct gold and can be snapped up for the lower price of #48,000 – if you forget the 364 diamonds encrusted in the ‘Superstar Ice’ model.
Goldgenie founder Laban Roomes said: “We know that mobile phones are a part of most people’s daily lives and, like with a watch or item of jewelery, some people like to have the very best.
“Our new Superstar range features beautifully designed iPhone 5’s which you won’t be able to buy anywhere else.
“What’s more, we understand that mobile phones are consumable goods and many people like to upgrade every year or two which is why this unique range is timeless.
“The 200grams of solid gold can be melted down and, along with the diamonds, be re-designed to embellish any other phone model.
“The value of gold is constantly increasing, making this purchase a real investment for the future.”
Goldgenie gold-plated iPhones, iPads and Blackberries, are a must-have accessory among the A-list elite, including David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and Simon Cowell.
