Going commando: Intimate Royal Marine calendar bares all

A group of hero Royal Marines have returned from Afghanistan to bare their most intimate parts in a revealing calendar – their battle scars.

Twelve squaddies stripped off for a calendar to raise cash for their unit after unpacking their gear from a gruelling six-month tour of duty.

The sultry black and white photographs show the buff soldiers, all from 40 Commando Royal Marines based in Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset, in all their glory.

Some of the snaps also reveal the wounds they have picked up in battle – including Captain John Phelps who was shot through the shoulder on their recent tour.

The hunky calendar shots are the brainchild of businessman Sean O’Brien, from Taunton, Somerset, who has launched the Go Commando initiative to raise funds for the troop.

He said: ”Our desire is simply to to support the existing welfare team based in the South West where funds will inevitably be squeezed due to the current budget cuts.

”We hope we can raise sufficient funds to set up and maintain a facility at Norton Fitzwarren to provide support on an ongoing basis, not just for this unit but the wider area which would incorporate the Royal Marines and Navy across the South West.”

The 40 Commando Royal Marines returned from a tough tour of duty in Sangin last month, where they lost 14 men.
