A dad was horrified after his nine-year-old daughter discovered a one inch bolt – in a packet of Haribo.
Amber discovered the bolt in a mini bag of Haribo which was part of a £2.99 multipack put in her Christmas stocking.
Stephen, 50, a quality control manager of Haverhill, Suffolk, bought the Haribos at Tesco in December.
He said: “We couldn’t believe it. It makes a mockery of their advertising jingle, they should change it to ‘kids are going to love it so, the happy world of ‘hari-bolt’.”
A spokesman for Haribo said: ”We take all customer complaints very seriously.
”We would like to investigate this matter fully and would ask that Mr Friel contacts us directly in order for us to determine what the item is and how it has come to be found in a packet of our products.
”As the UK’s largest gums and jellies brand, we follow a very stringent manufacturing process, which every sealed bag follows before being despatched.
”Every single packet of our product, irrelevant of size, is put through a specifically designed metal detector, which is used to remove any metal from within our packs.
”In order for us to comment more specifically we would have to investigate this further and would once again ask that the consumer contacts us directly.”
