The most anticipated game of the year is released at midnight on Monday, but one gamer is so desperate to get his hands on the first copy he began queuing up almost a WEEK before the launch date.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II is set to be the biggest game this year, and dedicated Taylor Pelling set up camp outside HMV Oxford Street on Wednesday afternoon, more than six days before the midnight launch of the shooting game on Monday.
Media student Taylor, 19, is being cared for by sympathetic staff at the shop, who are keeping him well fed and allowing him to use the toilet.
Staff believe waiting six days for a computer game is the longest anyone has ever queued.
Despite the chilly, uncomfortable nights sleeping rough on the streets of London, Taylor’s spirits are still high.
Taylor said: “I’ve attended a few midnight launches, but I have never been first in line.
“This time I was determined to be first in line.
“I love Call of Duty and I know the launch is going to be pretty spectacular, so being at the front of the queue to buy it will make it an even more memorable experience for me.”
Activision’s newest addition to the popular series takes players into the near future, where another Cold War has broken out.
Futuristic weaponry and vehicles promise to make Black Ops II the best Call of Duty game yet, and an all-new multiplayer mode with new maps, game modes and perks will be sure to keep avid fans engaged for hours.
HMV’s Category Manager for Games, Andy Pinder, said: “I am a huge fan of Call of Duty, so on a personal level I am really excited and can’t wait for it to come out.
“I hear the new perks are great and I’m particularly looking forward to seeing what they’ll be like.
“This is undoubtedly the games release of the year, which is great news not just for fans but retailers alike as we head into Christmas.”
The game is available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
