More than forty families have not received mail for seven MONTHS and may not get Christmas cards after a postman complained he was bitten by a dog.
The Royal Mail are refusing to deliver to three streets in the Whitley area of Reading after a postie was bitten in June.
Residents affected by the strike are being forced to collect their post in person from the depot several miles away.
Pensioner Marcella Kelly, 68, said: ”They keep saying their priority is the postmen’s safety which is fair enough, but I think it’s about time they think about us now.”
The families are facing a Christmas without cards, as the dispute still has not been resolved.
Royal Mail claim they have apologised for the inconvenience and say they will work with Reading Borough Council to establish a permanent solution.
Options include placing locker boxes in the area or an elaborate system to establish the times of day where postmen can deliver safely.
