Mark Bullock. An engineer died after being scalded to death by burning-hot steam. See NTI story NTISCALD. Mark Bullock (50) was trying to fix a cooker when he suffered 90 per cent burns and died 24 hours after the incident at John Pointon and Sons in Staffordshire. Investigators found the boiling steam should not have got into the confined space where Mark was working. Now the Cheddleton animal rendering firm has been fined £660,000 after admitting a health and safety breach over the 2011 incident. Stafford Crown Court heard Mark’s death was ‘tragic and unnecessary’.
